As a professional DJs and VJs we travel extensively, and are looking for way of saving space and being
creative on the move
then we came accross dss dj from myxoft.com
Of all the dj software this has the look and feel of a professional setup. running on windows me
it is easy to install and worked straight away.
No need for expensive sound cards and will even mix two different tracks from the same
cd simultaneously.... try and do that on you pioneers.
In order to mix properly you really need to have a way of monitoring the next track on your headphones
and select your cue point. Simalar dj mixing software require you to buy expensive multi channel soundcards.
Dss Dj is great. You can can access this function by running two pci soundcards. For head phones previewing,
the second card doesn't need to be expensive.
My setup is a gigabyte motherboard. i am running the headphones from the in built sound card on
the mother board and the main output is running from a soundblaster live drive pci card.
the result are very nice. i have not had to buy anything else.. perfect!
Most functions have a keyboard shortcut which gives you a more hands on control compared to
just using the mouse and you can layer the functions for greater creativity... nice
The main drawback is there is no shortcut for for the left and right volume controls.
this makes life tricky if you are used to mixing in this way. Also you cannot adjut the
crossfasder curve useful for scratching etc
it would be really cute if you could pre program the playlists and how you want the mix
and as i have an eridol midi keyboard. It would be really cool if i could assign the functions to
midi controllers, for more conrol, even more creativity.
